I wanted to go visit the College Pond to see what the resident Canada Goose population had been up to. Since the geese return each year to their old nesting grounds, it's kind of cool to get to know them on a year-to-year basis.

I was hoping to get some shots of Mother Goose sitting on her nest, or as I did a few years back, see some newly hatched chicks peeking out from under mom's protective wing. But some kind of carnage has happened this year... broken eggs everywhere. The only egg I saw was laying on the grass far from any nest.

Of course, there is the case of the Gander and his mate that have set up their home in the parking lot for the last four years... they still have their expensive real estate all barricaded up while the goslings prepare for their entrance into the world. At least they seem happy.
