More Than Just Rocks

It's named Red Rock Coulee, but for a very short while in April and May a closer look reveals something a little more delicate.

First the crocuses appear...

And then, for only about a two week period, these flowers appear on the bare ground. I don't know what they're called (they remind me of a very short primrose). When the flower first blooms it's white, then as the flower gets older it turns pink, then the plant fades off into the sunset until the following year...
